New York: More than 80% of homeschooled students are chronically absent
More than 80% of homeschooled students in New York were considered chronically absent. The number includes students who receive instruction at home in the state.
State Senator Patricia Fahy is seeking stricter oversight of homeschooled students. She wants greater control over this teaching model.
Fahy also intends to restrict homeschooling in homes with documented abuse cases. The restriction would target environments with such records.
